We are studying the importance and life changing effects of placing God's Word in our hearts

Language Arts: Writing

Grammar - Learning to identify Subordinate and Independent clauses in complex sentences.

We are going over how important punctuation and proper Grammar is in communication by reading signs and advertisements that use these things improperly, and end up being quite funny.

Science:

We finished objective number 5 and objective number 6 today, as well as vocabulary words, mirror, law of reflection, and virtual image.

Social Studies:

We are learning the first 12 countries of Africa and will be quizzed on them on Friday
Simulation, most groups have come to the confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers and have to figure out which one is The River That Scolds All Others

We read a chapter out of our class reading book, High on Adventure III

Today is the last day that we will be answering the kids questions that they asked about topics in the Bible.

Language Arts: Writing

We are learning about subordinate and main clauses
Tomorrow our essays about our spring break activities is due, so we worked on editing our rough drafts and beginning our final copies.

Science:

We are learning about the Electromagnetic spectrum and the various electromagnetic waves it contains.

Social Studies:

Simulation and our work on the maps of North and South America.
Tomorrow we have a quiz on those maps.  If a student gets all of the countries and spells them correctly, I have promised them a $5 gift card to Cold Stone Creamery.

We reviewed what we have already gone over and worked on comparing and contrasting sound waves and Electromagnetic waves.

Social Studies:

We worked within our simulation and worked on our maps of North and South America.  Our map test will be on this Friday.

Outdoor Ed Meeting:  I would like to have a meeting about our Outdoor Education trip to Homer next Monday at 7:00 p.m. here at the school.  I would like to discuss the cost and possible fundraising options, as well as hand out a preliminary schedule and answer any questions you might have.

We are writing about our activities on Spring Break.  Most kids are done and are in the process of editing for paragraphing, sentences structure, adjectives, and adverbs.

We are on the last couple of weeks of our simulation about Lewis and Clark.

Bible:

There is no memory verse this week.

We answered the kids question, "What will it be like in Heaven?"
Our study went through Revelation 21 and 22, as well as verses in Isaiah 65 and 66.

Language Arts: Writing

Grammar - We reviewed our understanding of complete and simple predicates today.

Writing - Kids are working on their self and peer editing for their Free Write papers.  There are a few who are finishing their rough drafts and some who are onto writing their final copies at this point.  The final draft is due this Friday.

If your student would like to work on their paper at home, please have them type in on our class Google Apps account so I can verify that they are doing it.  All you have to do is type Gmail in the url, and log on with the following information:

Science:

We had our Chapter 11 test today

Social Studies:

Along with our Lewis and Clark Simulation, we are beginning to learn the countries of the world, which will include the states of the United States.   At this point, we are learning the countries of Asia

 We are reading chapters out of the book High on Adventure III by Stephen Arrington.  Steve is a friend who has had a tremendously adventurous life and is a committed Christian who is dedicated to sharing the love of God with children around the world.

Bible:

No memory verse this week due to it being the end of the quarter
We tested the teaching that you can see Jesus in every verse of Scripture by randomly picking out books chapters and verses

Language Arts: Writing

I met with everyone who turned in a rough draft to give them constructive criticism in writing their storylines.  There were those who haven't turned in a rough draft

Science:

We played a review game after answering all of the kids questions on their objectives.
There will be a chapter test tomorrow over Chapter 11

Social Studies:

I will be gone this Thursday and Friday, so instead of working on our Simulation this week, we will be working on learning the countries of the world, beginning with Asia.  Students will be receiving a map and learning the countries in small sections.  We will be going over memorization techniques that they can utilize to help themselves learn the many countries.

Language Arts: Reading

We are reading a book entitled High On Adventure III written by an acquaintance of mine, Stephen Arrington, former Delorean drug scandal fall guy who was converted in prison who then became the chief diver for the Cousteau society.

Math:

Bible:


Memory Verse - Acts 17:11
We finished answering the question "What if you break one commandment?"  We finished our study by concluding that although the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), the gift of God is eternal life  through the sacrifice of Jesus, as long as we confess our sins (1John 1:9) because He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us.

Language Arts: Writing

Grammar - Identifying complete and simple subjects
              Our worksheet today dealt with Irish and Celtic myths, and we discussed human created mythology and compared it to God's truth.  In our discussion, we talked about how strange and demented man's substitutes for God's truth can be.
Writing -

Science:

We finished our objectives for Chapter 11 today and will be having our Test on Tuesday!!!

Social Studies:

Simulation day.  6 of the groups had to backtrack because their guide left them, so they are heading back downriver and hire a new guide.  Three groups made the correct choice on who to hire and have the correct guide.  They will have a much better chance of getting over the Rockies before winter sets in.

Language Arts: Reading

We Read The Giver until we only have a page and a half left.  The kids are dying to hear the end, and we will tomorrow!

Language Arts: Writing

Grammar - Complete and Simple Subjects
Writing - We are on drafting.  There are some students who are still on brainstorming.  Our rough draft for our free write is due this Friday

Science:

We are learning about sound waves and their characteristics.  We are done with our vocabulary, and only have one more You Will Be Able To left until we are done with this chapter.  Our Test will be next Tuesday!!!

Social Studies:

Those students who chose to hire Running Deer and her husband as their guide to the Rockies just found out that they made the wrong choice.  Bird Woman's (Sacagawea's) companion ran away from the Mandan during Lewis and Clark's winter there, and so in the simulation, if they hired her, she ran away from them.  All parties who had chosen Running Deer chose to head back to the Mandan and lose valuable time to hire Bird Woman and her husband.

Language Arts: Reading

We read Chapter 21 in The Giver today.

Math:
