8/24/15

Quote of the Day:

"Intelligence plus character - That is the goal of true education."
                                                                                       - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Bible:

Memory Verse - Matthew 18:15  We talked about how important it is to spend a little bit of time each day working on the memory verse.  I recommend 5 to 10 minutes.

We are learning where the 4 primary books are:  Genesis, Psalms, Matthew, Revelation.   It is from those books that we can locate all the other books in the Bible.

Math:

3 Times tables

Intermediate 5 / Course 1 - Lesson 1
Today we learned how to take math notes, leave space for the lettered problems, and what to do as Mr. Bailey teaches the other math group.

Science:

We worked on identifying key words and taking notes for our vocabulary words on our objectives.  We completed to the vocabulary word cell membrane.  The first two we worked on together, the last couple the kids did themselves.

Social Studies:

Today we learned about map scale and how to measure and determine distance on maps.  We will continue working on that and on Latitude and Longitude this week.

Language Arts:

Reading -   We learned how good readers determine purpose for their reading.  I am reading Summer of the Monkeys, by Wilson Rawls to the kids in class

Handwriting -  Today we worked on Dd, Ed, Ff, Gg

Spelling - Pre test # 1, I have advised the kids to study their spelling words for 20 minutes each night.
