8/26/15

Quote of the  Day:

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
                                                                                             - Nelson Mandela

Bible:

Memory Verse - Matthew 18:15
We played a Bible game today to help us learn our Bible books

Math:

3 Times tables
Investigation 5 / Course 1 - Lesson 2
Most students didn't finish their lessons or corrections.  There is a bit of homework tonight

Science:

We worked on learning how to locate information in a textbook, and how to write our answers in note form.  We worked on doing this for our Numbered Objectives and most of the kids did well.  This is still a new skill and there is more work, but we are making progress

Social Studies:

We did an instructions test today that only one student passed.  It will not affect their grade, but be sure to ask them about it.

Language Arts:

Handwriting - We practiced these letters, Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo

Spelling- We worked on our first side sentences today.  6th grader did 4, 5th graders did 3.  The criteria for our sentences are these:
1. 10 or more words per sentence
2. The spelling word must be used in context, although verbs can be conjugated for tense.
3. Spell the spelling words correctly.
4. Underline the spelling words

Reading - We read 1/2 a chapter of Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls.

Grammar -  Worksheet on identifying nouns.   We did half together, and then they did half independently for me to see if they understood the concept.

Writing -  I returned the rough drafts of the 2 paragraph writing assignments that were turned in.  Not everyone turned one in.

PE: We worked on our core strength today by doing push-ups, and planking for 30 seconds at a time.  We then played a game that worked on our conditioning.
